Emily of New Moon is a re-read of a childhood favorite. It did not live up to my memory of it. The main issue is the scene where the twelve-year-old protagonist is rescued by a much older (we're talking more than two decades here) man who declares 'I'm going to wait for you, Emily.' I'm sure as an impressionable child, I found this to be romantic. As the mother of a young girl, I just find this creepy. I plan on re-reading the others eventually, but needed a palate cleanser first, hence the whiplash change of genre that is the dragon-shifting romance of Katie MacAlister (for the record, it's been years since I read anything by her, I completely forgot how extremely funny she is.)
I absolutely loved Nora Goes Off Script. It had that LaLa Land feel to it. I would have been perfectly fine if the book hadn't had a HEA. Another Top 10!
Good month! Another Top 10 with Greek Myths, an absolutely lovely translation. Also, while not cracking the Top 10, Nikki Sloane's Three Simple Rules is the best erotica I've ever read.
