My greatest fear as an author . . .

Even bigger than my fear of someone I know reading one of my books is the fear of running out of ideas.
This is why last week, when I couldn't fall asleep because a new character began whispering in my ear, saying I should write their story, I didn't tune them out.
Despite being midway through another (fingers crossed) successful NaNoWriMo I embraced the idea of welcoming new (imaginary) friends to play with.
Such a large percentage of the year is spent writing second drafts or editing that when a new idea comes along, it's a blessing. I'm happy to say that I've now been blessed twice this year. Although, even after the end of this month's challenge, I probably won't be jumping headfirst into Winnie's story, no matter how much she begs me to do so. I'll continue letting the story percolate, jotting down notes and dialogue as it pops into my head.
That does, however, beg the question . . .
